The Macaron Cape

The Macaron Cape (pattern only) is a classic waist long cape, with shoulder puffs that create an elegant silhouette. The Cape is knitted top down on circular needles, with raglan increases. This Cape works really well with for instance hIgh waisted skirts or pants, and with dresses, too! You may easily adjust the lenght of the cape to your liking, as it is knitted top down.

The rounds start in the middle of the back.

Lenght: ca 54 cm – 21,2 inches

All measurements are given on basis of the correct gauge.

Yarn:

The Cape is knitted with 3 yarn threads at the same time (hold them together, as one). Suggested yarn: Two threads of Sandnes Tynn Silk Mohair, and one thread Sandnes Tynn Merinoull.

Yardage: (150) 150 (175) 175 (200) gram Sandnes Tynn Silk Mohair (two threads) og (200) 200 (250) 250 (300) gram Sandnes Tynn Merinoull. (one thread).

Please note: You knit with 3 threads at the same time.

Suggested needles:

Short circular needle 4,5 mm/US 7 for the neck, and a longer circular needle 6,0 mm/ US 10 for the rest of the work.

Please note: The needle sizes are just a suggestion, choose the needle sizes that give you the correct gauge (knit a swatch.)

Gauge:

15 stitches of stockinette on needles no. 6 mm/US 10 = 10 cm/ 4 inches. The ribbed knitting is worked on needles 4,5 mm/US 7 – make sure you cast on and cast off  «loosely”.

Knitting tip:

The Shoulder puffs:

Knit 3 times into the same stitch, like this: Knit once in front of the stitch, once in back of the stitch, and again in the front of the stitch – and then you release the stitch. Repeat as many times as the instructions tell you to, for the size you`re knitting.
